The Challenge

This busy women’s health clinic with three locations needed to streamline their imaging workflow and integrate study data into their new EMR, athenaClinicals. With a 25-year reputation for exceptional care to protect, this practice’s five doctors, three midwives, and nurse practitioner had high standards for a PACS solution.

They outlined some demanding goals for the project:

  • Deliver a comprehensive solution for obstetrics and gynecology
  • Eliminate paper documentation of ultrasound exams
  • Enable the practice to share images and preliminary reports with patients immediately after the exam
  • Generate high-quality customized study reports
  • Integrate seamlessly with athenaClinicals
  • And implement it all quickly without disrupting patient care

What our customers say

The Results

The practice transitioned easily from their old, paper-based approach to the streamlined Studycast system workflow without missing a beat. Clinicians are now able to share the study images and report with patients before they leave the exam room. The customized obstetrics reports even include growth charts. And ultrasound image files can be sent securely to patients so they can be shared with friends and family.

The streamlined workflow and the ability to access the system from any device with an Internet connection has increased efficiency, too. Physicians have been able to view studies and finalize reports from anywhere, even during an out-of-state trip. Physicians can approve studies and view the results directly in a patient’s chart in the EMR. Administrative reports provide a breakdown of the data for facility oversight, including number of exams completed by physician, by location, and by referring physician. The reports even include approve time stats.

Consistency in reporting, staff satisfaction, and quality of care have never been higher. Three years after implementing the Studycast system, the practice is still enthusiastic about the results.
